  • Jet ski question..

I know nothing about them and have a friend who is interested in buying one and is asking me to help with some research. He is not looking for a high end one... does not need a 1300cc for example. Maybe a 750cc or 1000cc.

Anybody here know about them and can recommend brand/model?

    Thanks!

If they know nothing about boating/PWC, have them start off with this...

That'll help with some basics and then they'll understand some of what they are looking at on the actual machine.

PWCs can be difficulr to control and ride for the newb. I would suggest renting one first. If you're a heavy set guy and you and a passenger fall off while riding it can be tough to remount. They are a blast though. I used to have a two seater yamaha gp. Not sure they even make two seaters anymore.

They go on water, they go fast like Ricky Bobby and they're a bitch to get back on if you fall off and you're short.

Unless you have a 90s 2 seater, you should have no problem getting back on a new(er) jet-ski. They are much more stable than the old ones.

keep in mind if you want to pull a tube or wakeboard you MUST have a 3 seater, IE enough room for you + flagger + skier incase anyone becomes incapacitated. I can't tell you how many times i've watched the rangers pop people for that.

I guess I should clarify that the person asking me to look is an older man (70s) buying one for his grandson as a surprise. That is why he asked for my help. Plus he is lazy.

That being said he is looking at 3 seater and said he heard good things about yamaha.. I did some comparing between Sea Doo and Yamaha and seem to be pretty close.
