Any of those could happen in a year. Steering slop maybe not so much but it is possible. If the inspectors were doing their job the cars wouldn't get passed and they would get a ticket for a bad sticker, this will eventually get them off the street.

I will, but it's a hell of a long drive for you.

Metal on metal brake pads, so much slop in the steering you can go 1/4 turn before it does anything, cars darting to the side when you hit the brakes, wiper blades missing, cord sticking out of the tires, e brake not working at all. If they think that will pass imagine what it would be like without any inspection setup? You want your wife driving on the same road with a vehicle like that?
You won't believe how many people come through our shop with these same issues and when you bring it to there attention they can't afford to fix it and they leave on a tire thats separated or on the steel, or brakes are metal to metal with no pedal and they pull out of the shop and onto the road.I still can't figure out why they use the wipers untill there metal to glass and they still say no to a $15 set of wipers. Inspections are in place for stupid people.

The inspection stations, Mike’s Autocare and Tommy Tech, completed about 7,656 fraudulent emissions tests between August 2009 and March 2011, federal documents state.
At least they were keeping it low-key!

    Lol, that's over 13 a day, assuming they were open 7 days a week, 365 a year.

Not sure if I believe we should be wasting jail-space on them though.

BTW, that specifically says "fraudulent emissions tests".. Not tint or other BS.

And the dollar estimates you guys use probably did not include the "cash bonus". If that was $20 a car you're looking at $150k under the table. Must not have had proof of that or they'd be hitting them for tax evasion too.
