It's one thing if they stop and compliment it when I'm already at my destination or already stopped, but to pull someone over to compliment a car shows a complete lack of respect of the car owners time.

Yeah, talking to you once you have arrived at your destination is fine, IMO, but pulling you over is bullshit.

I don't see he problem. I get pulled over in one of my Mustangs or my Fairlane all the time for stupid shit, and all they want to do is talk about the car and let me go.

It happened to me twice when the LT1 SS was such a novelty. Didn't mind at all. They were car nuts and didn't swap any one up stories.

Way back in '93 I had just got my 93 coupe. The very first time I really got on it hard, ran it on a service road in Forney (off 80) to what I figured a 1/4 mile was. Got slowed down took bridge over 80 at 460, then a cop flew by the other direction with lights on... I knew why.

I pulled into the Knox station, and waited after I saw him hanging a U turn. Sure enough he pulled in, checked all my stuff, said he paced me at 90, (damn slow stock 5.0). Then he said he had an IROC-Z and liked my car and let me go. I Wish the Garland cop would have done that with my Z after an encounter with a '55. One cop did ask if I won. I just smiled and said no comment.

What happens when the pull you over to chat about your car and after telling you that they notice a couple pounds of weed in the back seat?Or any other illegal shit...Since the stop was illegal to begin with, do they just let you go or do they make up PC for pulling you over and arrest you?

This also goes against the cop logic that every stop could be their last......but you will pull someone over to say hi??

Oh you're going to jail. They'll argue that they stopped you for a legal reason and found it in the course of the stop. Your attorney would go with trying to get the evidence suppressed. Oogling over my vehicle is neat but "Am I being detained or am I free to go?" is the winner.
