  • Cancelling a Credit Card

So I have 2 AAdvantage credit cards, one is about 2 or so years old and the other is about 3-4. Both had an $85 annual fee, which was fine but they recently upped both cards to $95. I want to cancel the one I have had for less time but don't really know how it is going to impact my Credit Score.

I had my credit pulled when I bought the '13 and it was very close to the 800's and don't really want to do anything ti change that. Cancelling this one card, how much will or should it impact my overall score?

Don't you already own a house? And now a brand new car. What else are you going to need nearly perfect credit for that will actually be effected if your score drops 10 points? Or is this a thinly veiled solid barg?

as long as your debt to available credit doesn't change much it shouldn't affect you. I just closed down my British Airways Chase for the same reason and that card had like a $20k limit. Like they said above, if you have your house and ride, don't worry about it.

Not a brag at all. If I was bragging I would've posted my exact score - i tried to be as humble as possible.

The new car doesn't mean anything - anyone who knows me knows I will have it gone within 7 months.

As far as the house, I plan on buying a second home in the next year. So keeping my credit high is a must.

One of the few factors on your credit is credit/debt ratio and your credit length. I figured those would be the two that impact my score - I just don't know how much.

Yeah, I wish I had an AA Advantage card, a brand new Mustang at 0% interest, and a house. Oh wait.

You get airline points with no annual few?

I am not cancelling the oldest. Every few months I get 0% checks in the mail for 12 months. I like free loans.

In all seriousness, I had the same deal with 2 cards from the same company about 10 years ago, I called them and explained, and they just combined them onto the higher limit card for me. I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem doing that.

It's the price I pay to have a car without a squeaky seat.

Dude, take your constant chest bumping else where. I would like an answer to my original thread - not a 10 page drama thread about who is more financially inept..

They are both through Citi, but one is a Visa and the other is American Express. Can they do they with two separate carriers?
