Marines also. I was checking out for my PCS move to California and was told it was cut. No one gave a shit. More people were upset about the new order for rolled down sleeves year round than about TA.

We're so hard up for money that we're having a hard time getting parts for our planes unless it's a hard downer. They're about to cut any and all training unless it's directly related to a deployment.

Of course fucking defense needs assloads of cuts. But no one on here seems particularly willing to. And if they are they qualify it with "Well you have to cut WELFARE (note the ambiguity) before you can touch American's big dick, even if there is waste in the defense system."

It's like watching fucking 3rd graders negotiate.
Things that should be cut before a dime is cut from the military:

Department of Education: All of it. There are 50 state one and a federal one. Either do away with the federal one or the 50 state ones

Department of Energy: They produce zero engery

EPA: Bloated bureaucracy that has no constitutional authority to exist and was created by EO.

DHS: Redundant department. Disband the department, return all funding to treasury. Push security at airport requirements to the airports and the airlines themselves.

National Endowment for the Arts: If it's art, someone will buy it. You don't need tax dollars

National Wild Horse and Burro Program: I think this is self explainatory

            FEMA: State issue
FDIC: State issue or have banks self fund
Freddy Mac & Fannie Mae: No constitutional authority to exist
            Administration on Aging: REdundant

All it says is we have to pay for a army. It doesn't say a damn thing about what gets paid for. Tuition program? Not in there. VA? Not in there. commissary/PX? Not in there. Nothing is in there except pay for a army which means wages, housing, and equipment. All the extras that you think are your constitutional right? Not in there. There is plenty to cut, You just suffer from not in my house syndrome like has been talked about earlier in the thread.

That is not the problem. There are priorities. Soldier education is more important than Obama phones IMO.

Says raise and support Army and Navy. Tuition programs are part of supporting the military as it's an enticement to boost enlistment. Unless of course you would like to go back to drafting. I'm all for it 4 eyes. Enjoy Iran.

At the risk of a lot of rocks. TA is a benifit and not a guaranteed one. The new GI bill will cover your off duty education if you need it while in service. Use if you need too while in. If you don't then enjoy college.

The GI bill will pay for college while you are in.

It's is a great deal not an entitlement.

**edit. Mr Willie no matter the fund we still need a living wage. No matter what you call it we need the bumps in our pay for housing if nothing else. We still pay taxes as well.

If it gets cut, suck it up and pay for it yourself or wait for the GI bill to kick in.

I'll agree it's not a guaranteed benefit but if you offer it as an incentive to get people to enlist, you have an obligation to cover it. Part of signing up and the GI bill has been altered repeatedly. That said, after the GI bill runs out, use the Hazlewood Act. It's great.

Yep sorry I was editing so much but as everything in the military they take away much more then they give. Money is the driver and as of now we are running out.
