anyone know of a good dependable bike shop or maybe even just someone who is good with bikes and small engines who doesnt charge an arm and a leg, who could maybe do a tune up on it?
he told me it runs a little rich, and it smokes for a minute when it is first started up, but then goes away. probably wouldnt hurt to have it looked at.

My big cheese at the moment is flat-tracker style bikes, specifically the stuff that Mule does. Some of it can be a little overwrought, but most of it is pretty tasteful and and quality is top notch. I'm a fan because they have all of the style of a cafe-style bike, but with ergonomics that don't preclude riding the bike for more than 15 minute stints.
