Glad to see we have at least two members that are smarter than those they are up against.

Sorry, OP. "I don't wanna spank my kids" through one side of your mouth, and "Why won't they listen to me?" through the other.

Your kid has no respect for you. If you can't figure out how to teach it, you've got no business having kids.

In comes bcoop to douche up the situation. There are ways to disapline a kid without hitting them. I've got some good tips and that's what I was looking for, so if you're not to busy could you please go back to hell.

Sure there are. Your ways obviously aren't working. Time to try something new, but you're a day late and a dollar short. And trying something new doesn't mean spanking them is the only solution. Spanking is NOT the same as hitting. There's a huge difference.

You want the real truth? You should have squashed this shit by the time he was 5. It's going to be an uphill battle convincing a child at his age why he has to respect his elders and play by the rules.

Kids are going to push the boundaries at each new experience they encounter. Getting your bluff in early certainly helps to curb their will to exploit your love, but they WILL push the exact same boundaries with new adults.

Graduate from elementary to middle school? New boundaries to push.
              New babysitter? New boundaries.
Plain public school to magnet school? New boundaries.

Throw in some hormones and get ready to buy more booze.

              Consistency will be your solace.

That's my point. When my kids were younger, I spanked them early on, and spanked them often. Kenny is 11 now. He's had one spanking in the last several years, and he earned every bit of it. Chloe is 5, and her last one was probably 6-8 months ago.

That's why you've got to show them who rules the roost early on. I can fix most misbehavior with no more than a look these days when it happens around me. Taking things away from my son seems to work pretty well. Chloe is a bit more difficult about it, and doesn't respond well to spanking. So she gets the invisible chair, and other military style punishment. Kenny gets some of that, too; depending on the offense.

I was scared when I just woke up to 5 missed texts, but remembered Jen's phone lost her contacts a while back so I was safe.
