There's a Napoli's by Los Rios golf course. Freakin' awesome stuff... They also have a location in Allen. Family run joint.

We will have to give it a try, my wife is pretty picky when it comes to Italian...

They really are Italian. Half of the people that work there are family. They only own two (maybe a third), though. If there is another joint by that name, I don't think it's theirs... Just verified - Plano, Allen, and Pottsboro, with a new one coming to Wylie soon.

The is a place called Napolis in Mesquite. It wasn't very good. Covinos is great, my girlfiend introduced me to that place. Every time I go I see at least one awesome car in the lot.

The Napoli's in Pottsboro is run by Albanians. Last name's Krasniqi or something like that.

I had a weird experience over the weekend. We went to a strip-center Italian restaurant (don't ask me why) and when we walked in, instead of being shown to a table, we noticed a magazine rack with menus on it.

So we stand there for a couple of minutes in the lobby deciding what to eat, then proceed to the cash register where the woman takes our orders. We paid, then she handed over cups for drinks, and tells us to sit anywhere we like. The drink fountain is self-service, as is the silverware, the napkins, plates, and condiments. Bread is not brought to the table. In fact, bread is a menu item, so you have to pay for it. Get your ass up and head back to the cash register, because no one is coming by to ask if you want anything.

The same lady that took our order brought our food out to us, and took away the plates when we were done. That's all she did. We got our own parmesan, crushed pepper, drink refills, etc.

So what is a good tip for this kind of service? I thought I was generous in leaving $10 on a $85 bill, but some others did not agree.

I tip about 20% on decent to good service, and I hate it. The whole concept of tipping is dumb, especially considering that tipping is very little incentive for a person to actually provide you with better service. It's a social norm I wish we would get rid of.
