What is the appeal in having kids? I'm not talking about how you love them after you have them. I'm talking about before you get to that point. I have a lot of friends who are either in process or have tried their damndest to have kids, and I'm not sure I understand it. Not having kids is fucking awesome. Don't get me wrong. I'm not anti-kid. Kids are cool and all. Shit, a lot of them really crack me up. I just don't really see any positives from the parental perspective, unless you're drooling over yourself in a nursing home, 70 years later. There is so much to do in the world, and most of my friends with kids get to do a very limited amount, due to the outrageous travel expenses when you throw another 2 or 3 "people" into the mix. Why would you want to have kids? "No disrespect intended."
I always sort of "figured" I'd have kids, just because it was a part of life. Now that I'm older I really don't get it or see any positives. This planet is circling the drain as far as society goes. I don't want to subject a new person to the modern way of political correctness and idiocracy. Am I a bad person? I'm 36 years old and have exactly one close friend who isn't married and has no kids. And he is one of the smartest people I know(you're on here, you know who you are, nygga,). I also have many brilliant friends who do have kids. I can't help but think I'm a little lost on the subject, so I'm looking for enlightenment.
My first priority after my vacation is getting a vasectomy. Anyone giving me a "you just have to have them" answer will be subject to immediate castration. Same goes for the "I love my kids, BUT....." crowd. I talk to a lot of friends and they use that second phrase OFTEN. And it isn't that they don't love their kids, it's just like hope and vision and individuality dies after having kids. Which makes Eric the Anarchist wonder where the positives come into play. I've been drinking and thinking heavily today(vacation!), so again, I want to reiterate that I hope this doesn't offend my friends; it has genuinely been on my mind lately. Cheers.
