  • Anyone ever follow the "million mile van?"

Well, I had occasionally stopped by his site every few years to see what had been going on. I find it hilarious how shitty he treated the van and how long it went.

Well, apparently it died in July of '11 at just a hair under 1,300,000 miles. Pretty interesting read if anyone was not familiar with it's history.

Pretty cool. A good family friend has an 88 c1500 that he bought new. The odometer shows 45x,xxx but quit working 10+ years ago, and he has continued to drive it the same as before. He said that he thinks it has 750,000+ miles on it! Has been through 3 engines, 4 transmissions, etc. truck still looks and runs great!

This is 1 engine 1 transmission 1,000,000 miles. That's amazing.

He may have spent more in candy than he did maintenance for the van.

Yeah but the volvo had meticulous maintenance and the motor rebuilt twice. This thing went 1 million miles with shit terrible maintenance, all original.

Dude, that thing had plenty of regular maintenance according to the owner. Also, two rebuilds to get to 3 million miles and counting works out to about the same rate (and getting better) that this guy hit.

My Ford Exploder is somewhere north of 450k on the original 4.0 motor. Trans replaced once. Biggest issue I have is the windows randomly decide they don't want to work. I am looking to sell it this Spring, but it has been good to us.
