My dad and I had a lengthy talk about when I turned 9 or 10. It was okay to cuss with my friends if they were boys, and around him, but not ever okay around girls or women, or any authoritative figure. Same goes here about the written extent; he told me never to get it on record with me cussing. I kinda gave up on the last part, as we could not have predicted the internet

What sucks is we currently have my nephew and his mom living with us. She just moved here from California to get away from her toxic family, and she's staying with us until she gets her own apartment (which looks like it could be next weekend). Lyle (my nephew, who is two) is walking around saying things like, "FAT WHORE!," "DAMMIT!," and, "I'm gonna knock the CRAP out of you!" Not really what to do in that situation other than try to tell him those words are not nice and that he shouldn't say them. His mom's family is white trash and I'm sure that's where he picked up up. Just glad to have him out of that environment

I swear alot and dont hide it from my kids 9&11, as they will find it soon enough. My wife has scared them to not say the words. I personally dont care and they have slipped one or two by me to test me and see if they get a rise out of me. I feel if they hear it all the time, its not a "buzz" word for them and they are less likely to use it because its just an ordinary word like all the other words in our language.

Back to the question, at 15, let her slide and worry about some other things that really matter.

I guess my parents were wrong in telling me that "cussing is showing others that you have a lack of proper vocabulary". Now I often overhear people in public places, and think to myself. I can't believe how many people can not complete a conversation, or even a sentence in some cases, without cussing.

I didn't start cussing around my parents till after I was 21. I cuss like a mother fucking sailor though and my parents know it. My mom would always say thats white trash talk then a few minutes later stub her toe and scream "FUCK" really loud. I have a family full of hypocrites...

I'll be 40 in less than a month and still don't cuss in front of my parents. Rest of the time though, fuck it

It surprises me too at how many people cannot firm a complete sentence or thought without cursing. I used to curse profusely, but don't anymore. That's not to say they don't slip when I'm at my limit, but as a course of normal conversation, not at all.

She doesnt cuss around me or any adults, or anyone else only her friends.... the posts she had made were towards her friends and it wasnt at them.... to me its no different than when i would do it around the block with my buddies. Theyre going to do it and for me to get uptight about her talking to her friends and letting a cuss word here or there come out is stupid IMO as far as court orders goes, we didnt have joint custody, she had full until my kid said she wanted to live with me, so we're going to court over that and i think she is just looking for things to complain about since my kids grades have improve dramatically and she has no issues with behavior like she did with her mom and she tells her she is happy being with me. As far as pics go Mike.....you dont want any.

I will generalize and say your parents probably have/had white collar professional jobs. It would be perfectly acceptable if your dad was the gunnery sergent from full metal jacket.

Dad was delivery driver, auto mechanic, auto dealer and worked for the government. So he had a wide range of jobs. Whatever it took to feed us and keep a roof over us.

I watch it around my kids and wouldn't be happy if they freely posted on facebook. I do my best to keep it clean on facebook due in part to kids and family accessing it.

Call me old fashioned but I dont think its acceptable for children to cuss at any age. I rarely cuss (more online than in real life) but would never consider it in a formal situation or in from of my parents. Its a bad habit and honestly detracts from people.

I still ride my wife's ass about swearing. I personally don't find women who swear attractive (and yes I'm being a hypocrite).
