Any idea how long they give you to find a house or get out from the time you get check?

Sorry for all questions, just have no idea what to expect and for us (like most people) the house is the largest investment made.

Especially once you figure how much you pay every month and in interest once it all adds up over the term of the house loan.

Just a lot of $$$ involved for us and would like ANY incite anyone could give.

It will probably be 3-5 years before the construction work makes it to all the way to my house.

Gang up with neighbors, hire high powered attorney, go get ridiculous appraisal on house (from same appraiser the city uses if at all possible), sue everybody.

Truer words have not been spoken. From the minds that brought us the ATM blower. Can't understand why we moved out of Denton when we were surrounded by such greatness.

I'd take out the biggest loan on it I could get on it. Then the bank can fight them to get their money back and you will have yours. Kinda shifts the probs off you and you get the cash.

I would think that is just going to put the homeowner in the middle of even more drama.

Seems like their offers should start from the most recent property tax valuation.
That valuation should be easily defensible, since the county agreed to it.
Don't forget to get add valuation for the mineral rights if you have them.

Easy enough to pull the local property comps.
You will probably benefit by co-op'ing with other property owners in the same situation.

I hope that your shop was built by permits, else they have some grounds to discount from the
                          valuation.

A road widening project has caused my neighbor to sell their property. It was built with a horse
facility/business, and the construction is chopping 30-40 feet into their horse jumping arena.
They got paid for the land encroachment, not the whole property, and not for the damage to
their business/facility. They have moved out and the property is up for sale.

                          Good luck getting proper compensation.

I know this guy doesn't mind moving for the right price. What about someone who doesn't want to move? Could a homestead exemption help?

Eminent domain should never have been made law. I dont give a shit why they want your land; if you don't want to sell it the government should fuck off. Shit pisses me off.

Everyone with effected land was senta letter and invited to Red Oak Civic Cenetr to look at all the plans.

They had new maps on every wall for every inch of road from 287 to 45 and it was 6 lanes all the way thru so according to the current plans that we saw it will be 6 lanes all the way thru and then once it gets in Ferris by 45 it is going to branch off and go south of town and connect to 45 (kinda like 287 does in Ennis).
