TBH, money orders are a bitch in the banking industry. There is so much fraud on them its amazing. They don't follow banking standards and generally are a pain in the ass to people that handle them.
Truth. Fraud is ridiculous on em. We are very wary of them.

Why not just go to your bank and get a bank money order?

Fraud is prevalent with all types of financial instruments.

Why is going to your bank any better than the Post Office? The receiver is the one that has to look out for fraud, and there is potential no matter where the MO comes from.

The postal money orders were the safest ones several years ago. I haven't used one in quite a long time, so I'm not sure if anything has changed.

I have seen people specifically request them, so I assumed they were easier to validate / verify?

But crooks will always find a way to fuck people over..

Hell, I get a little worried when I use hundred dollar bills these days.. I always wonder if when I deposit them, or use them to pay for something else, that I am going to find out they're bogus.

It's because if you fuck with the USPS then the Secret Service and Postal Inspectors get involved. Major federal offense. Crooks are more likely to stay away from the huge jail time you can get from forging a Postal Money Order.

Good point.. I thought that may have been another reason people requested them specifically.

And thats the rub. They were hard to duplicate, and riskier if caught because its the federal govt, so it was rare to see fakes.

Now people are faking them a lot more, and they pass scrutiny easier because people have been conditioned to assume they are good.

Chili, I say bank money order cause you can call up your local branch and verify issuing right then and there, and then go cash it right away instead of hoping for it to clear. Ive found it to be much easier when i sell stuff.

But it is whatever the seller wants to accept. I personally would want something I could know for sure on and not have to deposit and risk it bouncing.

Also, I wouldnt want to take a postal money order to the post office to cash and find out its fake..... probably a few uncomfortable questions to answer if that happens.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
