how long do you have to pay them back? is it the full year until time to file again? I am getting $4xxx back and my wife owes $35xx. i'd rather not take my whole return to pay hers if I dont have to. can she adjust her withholdings this year to help pay for last years returns?

hell i have a 6 month old son, we are paying hospital/doctor bills out the ass. dont worry i have money. my wife works sales now and gets 3-4k comission checks every couple months so she can pay that with one of those. i need to know cause i am wanting to buy another project and need some background to stand on when she goes to bitching about me buying cars/parts. also kessler park aint cheap, so yeah i make good money but living 5 mins from downtown pays a price too.
