I'm really surprised they don't have an insane fire suppression system.

DFW gun range on fire

IIRC they had the high density foam pads set on end (like shooting into the side of a phone book) under compression. A rifle round would've had decent penetration, and with a magnesium lit tip...that fire wasn't going to be put out. Was just too deep.
And with the number of people to shoot the roof i doubt they had exposed pressurized water pipes. (look at the range you go to - hell, I remember Nick getting on someones ass here because he shot the walls/ceiling of his range- people don't always aim at the paper target)
That the fire was in the range and not the store gave enough time for people to get out.
Thank god nobody was injured or killed. Thats the important part.

Hole E SHIT!
Alex, condolences to your family for your loss. Condolences to all the lost NFA items.
Shoot Smart has small fires all the time. Unburnt powder falls down from the air into the tracks for the targets and catches fire. They have to call everyone back from the line and jump up and slap it out. Scary if you think about it. Every range has to have the same problem of unburnt powder. Dumbasses shooting tracers INDOORS, he should have died in the fire.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

on the upside, when they come to your door you could just say, "guns? -- all my guns burned up ".Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

posted on another forum so take it fwiw
I just went there and looked at the damage.
90% of the actual fire damage is confined to the range area behind the sales counters.
There is some water and smoke damage to the rest of the building.
I was told that no firearms lost their lives in this fire. Even the ones in the sales counters
were spared. Some sales guns and rental guns got wet, but nothing serious.
All the class 3 items, in safes awaiting for ATF response, were unharmed.
That news made my day.
I was afraid my NIB Powder Springs M10/45 was gone forever.
In my opinion, I think they'll rebuild and be back in business in a few months.
