  • Car Insurance

My wife informed me yesterday our car insurance just went up $40 a month. I'm about to add a third vehicle to our policy too. So we are thinking about making a change. We currently have Allstate auto and home insurance. Anyone recommend another company? Or is anyone on the board an agent?

Progressive has gone to crap over the last year or so. They just raised me $100 more a month after I had an increase last renewal. So far, I haven't found where I'm going or if I'll keep pissing away money to Flo.

Auto Insurance is a commodity. IMO, the company giving the coverage doesn't matter so much as long as you're getting the same coverage and the company is reputable and has an excellent rating from A.M. Best.

Beyond that, the only thing you should care about is whether or not you want a personal agent to deal with.

Since, you have Allstate, I would call the agent there and find out why your rate went up. Then tell them that you will be dropping them as soon as you find new coverage. Sometimes that can result in lower rates.

We've had Nationwide for 8yrs with great luck and no illegitimate rate increases. Maybe they'll have better rates.

we have had al boenker for years and they are great. and they dont pull credit scores if you have less then stellar credit

We pay 1,200 a year for 4 cars. But me and my wife have very clean driving records.

We also have our home insured through them. Very good rates on everything

Damn I thought my insurance was good. That is great. Full coverage? State Farm is pissing me off with the deductibles since I have never had a claim on home insurance, and my three cars are about 155 a month.

Ahhh that makes sense. I am in some kind of long term old timers group since I was on my parents as a kid and never left them. I know that when my wife tried to get insurance about seven years ago they quoted her 179.00 a month for one car. We were about to get married so I added her to mine for like 50 a month. Crazy. I have full coverage on a 02 Ford F250, 98 Jeep and her new Rouge.

Here is my insurance agents number I have had nothing but great experience with him and his company.

And I believe there is a couple of people on here that switched over and saved a ton of money.

I'm sure he's also not 23 trying to insure 2 of 3 vehicles that are expensive in general to insure. Plus, yeeea that whole knowing how to drive thing usually helps.
