$350.00 ticket for farting in class?

Can you even fine a minor for disrupting class? And was there a cop sitting in class? Doesn't make sense.

From my understanding they can fine minors in a school setting for lots of BS.

In middle school I had a "he said, she said" situation and our wonderful FWPD school cop who was a worthless POS went on a power trip hollering at me about taking me to jail, writing tickets, etc. I'm far from FTP, but this guy needed badge removal and an ass whooping. I was a straight A student, never been in trouble for so much as talking, etc. I had given a girl I didn't really know vending machine money and within an hour she drug another student across the gym by her hair. The chick she did it to didn't like me and vice versa. Next thing I know I'm called in to the office and I'm accused of putting a "hit" out on another student. Yep, a 50¢ hit worth a bag of chips. The other Vice Principal happened to walk in on this and she let them have it. They never once called my parents after waving his ticket book in my face, showing me cuffs, etc. However, my mother damn sure called them.

I completely agree with society going overboard these days. That being said, I also agree with punishment for a kid that just won't listen. IF this kid were told multiple times to stop, and kept on with it, I can see how a punishment is necessary. A ticket? Maybe not, but some sort of punishment.

Case in point, my son got detention for putting his feet on a table during WELDING class. I got a little upset, thinking the teacher overreacted. I call him, and it turns out, Jayme had been told multiple times over the coarse of a couple weeks to stop doing this. The punishment was more for not listening than anything else.

I also agree corporal punishment should still be in schools today.

Thats BS, So what happens if he doesnt pay it? They punish the parents for the kids actions knowing damn well there is no way the kid has the money to pay that.

The parents would be responsible for the ticket since he's a minor. Just like they'd be responsible if their kid vandalized property. I dont think this ticket would hold up in court though.

Cops should not be in schools. When an officer is called in, it's too late and with zero tolerance policies, discretion is removed from the officer.

My son came home from school yesterday to tell me one of his friends got a ticket (8th grade) because he farted in class. The said amount of the ticket is $350.00. I could not help but crack up over this. But damn, seriously?

The shit we got away with is unreal compared to now days. I don't care what you say, a fart in class is still funny.

Of course there is probably more to the story. I could see a kid forcing one out, the class cracking up, and the teacher getting on the kid's ass. The kid then did it again one or more times.

I have to believe that there is more to this than the kid simply busting ass a few times. Hopefully the farting was accompanied by very disruptive and inflamatory behavior to justify the ticket, causing a few chuckles and groans of disdain isn't cause for such a reprimand.
