I don't off the top of my head, but honestly don't buy used safety gear, save money somewhere else. Buy a good seat, belts, and safety gear. GeForce makes a decent economy helmet that can be had for a couple hundred bucks, I used one before I got my impact lid. Buy a ONE PIECE fire suit, yes they're hotter, but would you rather sweat some more, or have fire get in between your tops and bottoms? A neck brace, shoes and gloves. Some guys don't wear gloves, and they're fucking idiots. Fire doesn't play. Street stocks may be slow, but they and you will burn just as good as I will in my sprint car.
I'm not saying to buy the best of the best, I don't even have the best of the best, but nomex has a coating on it that only lasts a set period of time before it must be reapplied. Seat belts strech, especially if they've been in a wreck, shoes get filled with oil and dirt hindering their capability to keep you from roasting.
I don't think I can stress enough the importance of good up to date safety gear. I know you want to go race on the cheap, but saving half now and getting stuck in the hospital for months because of a faulty driving suit is not a risk I'd be willing to take.
I rest my case. The engine in my sprint car probably wasn't more expensive than this street stock car, and I go twice as fast and don't have to worry about getting outrun because I can't afford the latest and greatest thing in engines.
The best heads most people run are vortech heads. You also have to run a 2 barrell. There's nothing really latest and greatest about anyone's engine. It's more about setup than hp anyways. My cousin stepped down in go modified to a spec headed motor and lost about 50 rwhp. In return he got 100 pound weight break and can run a big spoiler. He said most of the time that open motor was useless. Especially on a dry track.
I'd still like to see a dyno sheet. Vortech heads are acceptable, but I don't think they're even good enough to 400hp out of a 2 barrel. Can they even run headers, or does it have to be stock manifolds?
My engine which is just a hair over 315 CI (305 .060 over), with Brodix heads and mechanical fuel injection, with no transmission made 400 to the wheels. Assuming everything stays the same an engine with 360 ci (350 .060 over) would make 459.6825396825397 hp at the wheels, and that's with no transmission, good aluminum heads, and 19.5 inches worth of butterfly diameter (2 7/16 butterflies x8 cylinders)

They run a 500cfm two barrel and yes they run headers. I didn't say they made 400 at the wheels just really close if you have a nice one built. Heck a long time ago my buddies nova made 286 to the wheels with a bone stock gm crate motor with vortechs. I'm sure with a couple more points of compression and a good cam would have been well over 350.

There are some at Super Bowl that make close to 400rwhp. They weight around 3000 pounds, and they racing is close! I can't wait.
It's also not about how much horsepower you make, corner speed has a lot more to do with overall speed than power. If you can't get through the corners fast all the horsepower in the world won't help you.

Dude I said "close" to 400 rwhp. I know a few people with Wells motors in there street stocks that have been on his chassis dyno.

If you are familiar with Dennis, then you know who Troy Taylor is. Pay him to set your car up for you. And listen to everything he tells you. All our cars were built by Troy, and he did the set ups...
Just remember, the race car itself is the cheapest part of racing. Fuel to and from track, pit passes, time you have to spend away from work, etc. is the stuff thst gets out of hand. I know most people who are not involved in motorsports make fun of your local dirt hobby stock guy for being a blue collar red neck, but the fact is, no matter what you race, it take a LOT of discretionary income.

Fuck. Yes. All of this. Plan on expenditures of ~$300 a night before winnings if you don't break anything.

I just hope I don't tear a lot of junk up all the time. Ill be ok if that happens.
