I hear you man. I was big on safety gear back in my street bike days! Not going to be different here. Oh and street stocks aren't slow! Haha

Yes they are. Lol. If you need a hand picking out a seat (yes, there is a right and wrong way to pick a seat) let me know and I'll meet you at smileys one Saturday. I have to pick up some stuff anyway.

What's the story on your car ? was it a well handling car ? Was the previous driver about the same size as you ? If your car is not properly set up, you will struggle a lot. It's worth the money to pay someone to scale your car for you. A lot of racers will do this for cash.
Don't scrimp on the safety gear is good advice.
Speedway motors is a good vendor for street stocks. THe have a lot of decent priced safety gear and equipment for your car.
We raced street stocks at Devils bowl for a number of years...Did fairly well. I love the 1/2 mile track over the 1/4 milers. More speed, more fun.
I wish they would pave something around here. I would build another car in a heartbeat.

I have grown up around dirt track all my life. My dad and uncles would race every weekend. I still have a bunch of family in okc that races. Mostly modifieds of some sort, limited, super etc. I would love to get back in one but money won't allow... Like racer said, do not buy used safety gear. That is the worst idea you can have. Skimp on gauges, run conventional oil instead of synthetic, get 101 gas rather then c16.. etc...

Same here. I use to pit for mini sprints then we moved up into sprints. The minis were a blast and not to expensive. The sprints were crazy high. Fucking alcohol burns a little to smooth for my preference but hey we put it out fast.

Grape on here builds the engines for mini's I believe.

I thought we were going to throw a little money at Racr's car so we could have DFWmustangs on it.

I plan on running normal 93 octane with 2 cans or torco mixed in a 55 gallon drum.

There are some at Super Bowl that make close to 400rwhp. They weight around 3000 pounds, and they racing is close! I can't wait.

I've never messed much with sprints, would love to, but they never had a sprint class at our local track. Would have to drive to either okc or dfw. My dad ran street stock, uncle ran pro stock and other uncle ran mini stock. Was a blast! I remember my first race, I was only 14, ran the mechanics race in my uncle's mini stock. Ended up winning but got dq because I was underage... Had to be atleast 16 to race..

That's not gonna do much, maybe 2-3 points. There is a gas station in Anna that sells 100 at the pump. Might look at that or mix 25% 93 in to save a few bucks.

Well the rules are stock production heads with flat top pistons. It shouldn't need high octane fuel.

This is still an option! Alcohol fumes will clear your sinuses out with a quickness, and I love it!

I rest my case. The engine in my sprint car probably wasn't more expensive than this street stock car, and I go twice as fast and don't have to worry about getting outrun because I can't afford the latest and greatest thing in engines.
