After the 10th or so time I went by I went ahead and paid the $2 or whatever they charged at the time. That was at least 5 years ago, if not more. It was just a little path the wound around some old stuff.
That's not the whole story, there is a "thing" at the end of all that winding around. It's a, well, should we ruin it for others that might actually make the trip?
Drop down out of Flagstaff, Az on the back side, go down the mountain, check out the red rock (awesome area with beautiful colors) and blow job rock (pretty comical), go through cottonwood and clarkdale, and then up the Minges mountains into Jerome, really neat old mining town. You can continue over the mph.rain and make a loop back up to I-40. Stop in old town Clarkdale and say hi to my sister she co-owns the salon "Chocolate Blonde".
It really is a beautiful area if you've never been. grand canyon was a cool visit, but not sure id visit it twice, although that horseshoe shot is amazing, I didn't get to see that
Isn't Jerome the town that the rain "washed" the schoolhouse down the hill/across the road, and they just re-anchored it and continue to use it?

I've made that drive several times and taken a few different routes. I'd agree that the most impressive thing to see is the Grand Canyon. I also enjoyed Monument Valley.
