  • Nothing about #3 The Intimidator?

RIP. Dale Earnhardt (Feb 18,2001). I was watching the race when it happened and kept wondering when he was going to get out of the car. Sad day for motorsports. He was the best.

Yep! I remember him as well. Looks like Austin Dillon(Richard Childress' grandson) will be full-time in a black #3 Chevy in 2014 FWIW.

Cry-Baby Dale. I personally thought he was a tool...some of the shit he did to his kids and first wife earlier in life don't get erased by driving fast and turning left. Karma is a bitch.

I saw the race, and never thought he died at first. Never really been a NASCAR fan, but usually only watch Daytona race, never really the other ones

Was he really the best or is this another case of senna?

I'm young so I'm not aware of what he did to his kids in wife.... Please explain.

Same here, I thought he would be fine. That wasn't even the worse looking wreck of that race. Tony Stewart's wreck where he was flipping looked way worse than Earnhardt's wreck.

He was the best in the 80's to the early 90's IMO until Gordon started to win.

People ether loved him, or hated him. I wasn't a fan, I was an Ernie Irvin fan. Also rooted for Allen Kawiki, Davey Allison, Mark Martin. After Davey and Allen died, Ernie smashed his brain, and Mark turned into a whiny bitch, i quit watching. Tried to get back into it last year and couldn't finish a race on tv. with all the banners behind the announcers, shameless plugs and the fucking stack of subway sandwiches on the table, you couldn't focus on the race. While under caution they went live to an in car of Carl Edwards, and asked him what kind of subway $5 foot long he was going to have after the race. It was at that moment I just found something else to watch.
oops that turned into a rant real fast.

anyway R.I.P Dale. At least he went out having fun.

I was a fan of him as a kid, but Mark Martin and Terry Labonte were my favs. Since around 02-04 though I became I big fan of JJ.

Never cared for Pitt maneuver Dale... Was always a Bill Elliot and Mark Martin fan...

                          RIP though.

There was a race at Watkins Glen one year, not long before he died actually, in which they set up a camera on one of the turns. They closed the focus in to about a three foot section of it and lap after lap showed him sliding the car through that particular turn. On every lap the back right corner of that car slid to within about three inches of the wall, in exactly the same spot. Lap after lap. Was truly a badass camera shot! Will never forget that.
