  • Any GM techs or Parts guys?

I'm trying to install a GM factory Nav unit into my 03 S-10. It has the class 2 data system, which is required, already ran through the radio harness. I picked one up on ebay for $85. Seller sold it, as is not working, because they didn't have a way to test it. I got it plugged in tonight and the boot/brand logo screen came up. Unfortunately this unit was to big to fit in the factory location. I'm trying to find out if GM used different sized Nav units. The one I have is the Touchscreen. Not sure which chassis it came out of.

I'm going to go to the local GM dealerships tomorrow morning and see if I can get the unit identified, and try to find a friendly tech who will help me unlock it in the truck to see if it is fully functioning.

If anyone chimes in. I've done some googling. It is out of chassis GMT 345TNF Which goes back to a Hummer H3. PN on the radio is 15883298 that PN is superceded by PN 25846054. Which when looked up on GMpartsdirect says it is no longer in use.

Just FYI , some of the radio and navigation units from GM are vin locked. When you install them in your vehicle they wont work . I think you have to go into the computer and make some changes allowing the unit to mate with the computer.

I believe its all radio's after 2003. When they integrated the class 2 data system in all of their vehicles. I'm hoping one of the dealerships will let me walk them through the process. There is a dummy lock basically. There isn't a navigation option for a 2003 S-10. So they will have to tell it they are working on say, a Hummer H3 like what vehicle the unit came out of. That way there is a Nav option and it can be done from there.
