Oh, and I am VERY grateful for those of you who have gone out of their way to help me with my resume, offer job leads, and support in general.

Does anyone have a good example of a general cover letter they can send me? Something for sending/handing resume's to hiring managers and recruiters.Originally posted by LeahBest balls I've had in my mouth in a while.

Well, they called back today and countered my $38k with $35k. I got details on travel and benefits. The company pays for the health insurance which starts on day 1 (this is important because of my back) and the company matches up to 6% of 401k. Travel also will not be quite as much as originally estimated

As noted above, expect to settle between your counter and their offer, which is exactly what happened.
Now it's your call. If you counter their counter, you run a high risk of them saying, "Fuck it, he's too difficult to work with"...

congrats! (if you decide to take it)
FWIW i took a job where im at making 14/hr entry level just to get a foot in the door feb 2012. I have been promoted twice and am making over twice what i was hired on at as just my base with another promotion and 30% pay increase within the next 8 months. What im getting at is that it may not be ideal, but hard work will get you where you need to be.

Congrats op, get the eff out of retail.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I took the offer. The only thing certain about the health insurance is the premium is company paid. I will get the fine details when I start may 20th. This is just short of a double in pay. I will be looking to replace my s-10 within the next 6 months to cut the fuel bill even further. From what I hear, their goal for me is to have me move to a construction manager within the first 18 months. Not sure what base is there, though my friend who is building for them now said he is on track to bonus about 12k this year. Its not where I planned to be, but it is a HUGE stepto getting on the right track financially. Now to figure out what to do with my tiny 401k at the current company
