IMO, that's fine. That's 20 minutes tops. It's the constant screaming for an hour or more that pisses me the fuck off.

If I had the bankroll, I'd start an adult only airline. The market is there. I'd happily pay a 20% premium to not have to deal with it. And so would every other person I know that travels for business.

I agree with both of these. I usually fly 60K miles a year or so for work and a few personal trips. I run into fussy kids often. If it's just for a few minutes (climb and descent), then I can handle it with no problems. Occasionally a kid will get fussy for a few minutes at random. Again, I can handle it. My boys are 6 & 10 now, but they flew early in their lives and often. I think my youngest was on a plane at 3 months. They've been great to fly with, and I can only think of one flight that we ever had any trouble. It was winter, bad weather, 2 hour delay at the gate, 40 minutes on the tarmac after we backed away, then circle for 45 minutes only to reroute to Austin instead of DFW, land, refuel, and then back in the air to DFW. He was fussy when we took off from NC (after sitting the whole time on the tarmac), but I got him calm in about 5 minutes. About 2 hours later, he stirred but I got him calm. If we had landed when we were scheduled, he would have been fine. Fifteen minutes out from Austin, he lost it. It was a solid 20 minutes before I got him to finally give up and go to sleep. He was about 18 months at the time and simply wanted to move around.

The part that aggravates me is when the parents do nothing. The time my oldest was having trouble (the one above), I did everything I could from walking around with him to letting him walk, etc. It was only when we were confined to our seat that he was fussy. Everyone around was understanding because of the delays. Have a plan with your kid and you won't have trouble. It's called parenting. That being said, I'd gladly pay the 20% extra for any flight over 2 hours...

I'm surprised at your post, but not really since you don't have kids. I bet big money though that if it were your niece/nephew or even your own child that got assaulted by a stranger, you would have acted differently. There is no way in hell that mothufucker gets of that plane under his own power if it had been my son/daughter, I would have beaten that old bitch like he was trying to hijack the plane with a plastic spork.
