  • Free Sirius/XM in cars

So we recently discovered that the Sirius/XM is working in both our cars and come to find out it's some free promotions they're running. The problem I have with it is that the music sounds really digitized like its running low bit rate. Is that what it normally sounds like or is it just because it's free. If the sound gets better we may consider joining, mostly because 90s on 9 rocks my wife's tits off

To me it always sounds a little off... and when you go under a bridge it cuts out for a second. I listen to it when it is free but I would never pay for it.

I did this for a while but kept getting annoyed when my phone Internet usage would piss out in the middle of no where.

I just added 6 months for $25.00. They sent me mailings for another car, so I told them I would sign up if they matched the offer for my car, otherwise I could do without. They put me on hold, and came back a few minutes later saying OK.

Some stations sound great and others not so much. I have had it for about 2 years now and am happy with it for the most part.

I have also done the 6 month/$25 plan for about a year now. When I call to unsubscribe, they try to talk me into staying, which I do but only for the "deal".
I have it in my truck, & I like having it because I drive to places for work everyday that have crappy FM reception.

All channels are compressed and do not sound that great. More popular channels are compressed less and therefore sound better. SiriusXM should be thought of as a content provider not a sound quality provider.

I've always thought that sirius sounds worse than radio.

Sirius came w/my GT, sounds like pure garbage in my opinion. Not even willing to pay for one month just to see. I've always thought both providers sound horrible, figured people paying for it just didn't want to admit it.

Speaking of free Sirius, I know a guy who bought a refurbished O.E. tuner off of ebay for fifty bucks, installed it and it worked right off the bat with no call to Sirius to have it activated or an account set up. It's still going almost two years later. Maybe the unit originally had a lifetime activation on it or something.
