Not accurate in the slightest. According to the Area Code/PSTN Exchanges for the first 3 digits it has me being born over 1,000 miles away. Not even in the ballpark.

I was born in California but my parents didn't apply for a SSN until 4 yrs later in North Dakota when my younger brother was born. Both of our SSNs are very similar and start with the number shown in the chart.

Mine was assigned when I was in England so it went through New York... I've never lived there.

unless the first 3 numbers somehow stand for other numbers. Like in apartments each resident key at the apt office is numbered different than the apt. for security reasons if they are lost or stolen. 1234 might actually mean 2345 or something like that

                        RESIDENT ELECTRICIAN AND WIRING GURU!!!!

It is true for some SSNs, including mine.

There are going to be cases where it does, I'm sure. You do realize how many people that are born in the U.S.? With that large of a group and each one getting their own SS number, there is bound to be some that are the same. I bet if you search hard enough you will find some people that the last 4 of their SS number is also their date of birth.

I'm saying, it's not a coincidence. At some point there was definitely a defined structure to these numbers. Which is why my [step] brother and I share the first 5 digits of our SSNs (and the last four are close enough to appear to be in sequence), having been born three weeks apart in the same hospital. The odds of that being by accident are astronomical. And there are similar cases posted above.

Obviously they have changed methodology a few times, but at some time, there was a well defined assignment method.

If I told someone I could guess the correct answer 8.5% of the time, they wouldn't exactly have a lot of faith in my answer.

The whole link watches like an advertisement anyway.
