Not really Sci-fi, but the Game of Thrones(G.RR. Martin) books are awesome, and the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is pretty awesome too.

Good book. He was a huge influence on Stephen King.
I didn't care for Airframe much, but I never was able to get into Crichton's books.

One book that I've been wanting to read but haven't found a (free) digital copy is Rendezvous with Rama. I once heard that they were going to make a movie backed by Morgan Freeman but haven't heard much since than.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I picked up the first two books of the game of thrones series and an Iain M Banks book I've yet to read, so I should even have some left for after.I get home.
