  • Getting off a lease.

    Girl and I just broke up and we share a place. I'm moving all my shit out and I don't really know about the lease. She's staying there and paying the rent but I want to get taken off. I'm guessing that she (ex) has to approve it along with the landlord. Is that all there is to it or am I missing something?

    Good luck getting the apartment to let you off the hook. I don't think they have to.

      Talk to the manager. Apartments are getting shitty about leases and whose on them. I've helped my daughter some with this situation, and apartments are getting harder to deal with because of this economy.

        Landlord, I'm guessing you're renting a house? When my cousin bailed on me on our apt. I talked to the manager of our place and she took him off.

          There is just a simple form they should have. She will have to meet the lease criteria by herself. You will each have to sign it

                if it is based on a standard TAA lease and you check into rehab you are covered. You need a voluntary committal from the court which should be easy enough.
