I was thinking about this the other day, about how I'd survive a serious SHTF moment. And I'm sure we all think well make it just fine...but realistically a lot of us wouldn't. So I ask, why do you think youd survive? I know nearly everyone thinks a gun will get you there, but I'll just wait 3 days until you dehydrate and die because you thought stocking up on only ammo would work.

As for me, here's why I think I've got a decent shot:

I can fish and hunt well
I can Preserve meat
I have plenty of outdoors/camping gear
Have a few weeks of freeze dried camping food and water
I'm in great physical shape
Strong immune system
Mechanically inclined
I have a generator
Can run several miles
Have water purification supplies and a filter for camping
Enough guns am ammo for a decent amount of time as long as I'm not trying to fight a war.

But when it comes down to it, I know theres so much more I'd need.

Thanks to my wife's crazy couponing I am stocked on canned, boxed and frozen goods. Plus I'm a fat fuck so that alone could sustain me for weeks. For water I have a creek nearby and I guess I could boil it. I need to buy a gun. and a sword.

I never understood why the folks in the Zombie movies don't just aim their sites on one of the nice coastlines and nab up one of those serious badass boats...just anchor the fucker a few hundred yards from shore and make sure you've got a dingy to go in once in a while for supplies, diesel for the gen-set, etc.
