Kayakers?

This is about 6 miles from me, if any of you wanted to try it I'd be glad to meet you at a takeout point downstream (or up towards the lake) and get you back to your vehicle to go load your gear. Just message me in advance to make sure I'm in town.

I was more concerned with whether or not you would want to look for one that will accept a drop in transducer location for a fish finder. Lowrance has a transducer design for a few kayaks. It's a drop in like that motor system.

I have been kayak fishing for over 6 years now. Here is my write-up from our last trip to Caddo...

Each kayak has it's ups and downs. It just depends on what you want to do with it. I have owned over 10 different yaks, but all were for fishing.

I have been looking into picking up a kayak as well. Mostly for camping trips like listed above to get into more secluded areas, but would also like to get into kayaking as a hobby on my days off work. Where else in Dallas is there to go? I know you can paddle the greenbelt and at any of the local lakes. Any places close to the Plano/Frisco area?

Went over to Mariner Sails tonight over off of 35 & Walnut Hill to look at kayaks. I've been emailing Mike in sales about what I'm looking for and he pulled several aside for me that would fit my needs. They have a demo every couple weeks on Thursdays and Saturdays over at Whiterock lake. Appointments are required but I bet are really helpful when deciding on a specific kayak. I'll probably end up buying from these guys as they have the best selection around and the fact you get 15% off accessories when you buy a yak.

EDIT: Here's a list of launches from Paddling.net, it may be of some help.

Think I've found the kayak I'm going to buy, just waiting to schedule a demo with Mariner Sails to try it out on the water before dropping the cash on it. It's the Wilderness Systems Ride 135. It's a 13.5 foot sit on top kayak. Has a capacity of 550lbs with a good amount of internal storage space. MSRP is $969 but they're selling $150-$200 cheaper at stores.
