An internet celebrity known as "Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker" is reportedly wanted by police as a suspect in the killing of an elderly Clark, N.J. man.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office says police are looking for Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, 34, for the murder of Joseph Galfy, Jr., according to the local Patch site.

McGillvary is homeless but considers himself "homefree,” the report said. McGillvary is also known as Kai Lawrence, Caleb Kai Lawrence and Kai Nicodemus.

McGillvary rose to fame after saving a woman by fighting off a 300 pound man with a hatchet and giving a local TV reporter in Fresno, Cal. an animated recounting of the incident.

Authorities reportedly believe that McGillvary relies on the generosity of strangers for food, lodging and transportation.

Galfy died as a result of blunt force trauma inside his home, the report said.

Based on the investigation, authorities know that McGillvary has cut his hair in an attempt to alter his appearance, and was last seen at a PATCO light rail station in Haddonfield, N.J. area, according to the Patch report.
