Adrian & I have actaully talked about this since we pay right at $80 for both our places put together. We have Netflix as well & ever since we got NetFlix we have really considered dropping cable. Only reason we havent is we had my RV setup as two extra boxes that we have added to our plan & just pay the $5 extra a month and when we think about it. $80 after taxes for both places to have cable isnt bad after we hear what other people pay. To get Netflix out at my place we would have to pay for a internet connection out there & being in the country we would be right back at the same price.

But cable is getting old with their commercials & not only that their re runs, They have shows of the First 48 that show all the way back from 2008 & everything is a rerun on cable it seems. Its like they dont come out with any new shows.

On another note, Im excited about the new season of Walking Dead

I don't watch a lot of live TV, but I do have the DVR set to record a bunch of shit and watch it usually when I'm at home and bored, or to kill some time on the weekend nights.

I do like the ability tho to watch the current episodes of good shows, like Californication, Walking Dead, Justified, shit like that. Although, even those shows I usually let build up on the DVR and watch a few in a row, like a mini movie. Haven't seen Justified yet, still have the last 5 of American Horror Story, etc. I think I have 70 hours on the DVR of HD stuff, 0 of non HD.

With hd receivers the aiming has to be spot on or it won't work at all. I also would just throw down a dish and watch dtv on my rv or at the deer lease with a single lnb but since all the recievers went hd it won't work anymore.

I have TWC cable and internet...what kind of "badass deal" are we talking about here? I have basic cable, no dvr or HD receiver, and 20 mb data and I'm just over $100/mo.

I've been thinking of dropping the cable but I don't want to invenst in trying a digital antenna and not liking it.

Get a regular antenna for over-the-air HD for sports...

We've been without cable for years.

We have an HD antenna for the big games and a Sony Internet streaming box for Netflix\VUDU\et al.

We only watch about 2 or 3 shows that come from cable channels, and the interwebz is a very good place for "finding" these episodes the next day after they air for free.... lol

The early cancellation fee will be way cheaper than a year of cable.

What would be the best antenna to use for OTA channels? I live roughly 50 miles east for Dallas and I'm about to ditch Dish. I checked ebay and there are like a billion 30-ish dollar antennas. I'm assuming they're junk?
