Trial Date Set
A firm trial date has been set for the man accused of shooting and killing Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield in February 2013 at Rough Creek Lodge.
Eddie Routh will stand trial in Erath County on May 5, according to District Attorney Alan Nash who said he expects the trial to last two to three weeks.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18 when Judge Jason Cashon is expected to take up at least 43 motions pertaining to the case.
Routh is charged with capital murder and could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted. He is being represented by Stephenville attorney Shay Isham and Fort Worth attorney Warren St. John.
Isham has said the case is one about mental health.
Kyle was a former Navy SEAL who served four tours in Iraq. He was dedicated to helping veterans with post traumatic stress disorder, a condition Routh was reportedly struggling with.
Kyle and Littlefield had taken Routh to the gun range for a form of therapeutic target practice when Routh turned on the men, shooting and killing them both.
Routh is being held on a $3 million bond at Erath County Jail.
