I pulled out my copy of American Sniper today and started re-reading it. Then, I came across this just now:

Read that in our local paper this morning. First thing that popped into my mind is that the statement should void any kind of PTSD/insanity defense and put it over to premeditated.

There are some articles floating around, one is in the political forum, with a statement from a Marine who was stationed with the murderer. Says he never saw any action outside the wire. He was in Iraq but never set foot off of the base. It unfortunately is looking more and more like a premeditated action.

As for what to do with him, I'm sure there will be plenty of SEALs in town for the funeral and the memorial service. Leave the guy in a dark warehouse and let them take care of it.

I was looking for information on the murderer's service in Iraq. Can anyone turn up his MOS and assignments in Iraq?

Claiming PTSD when never leaving the confines of the FOB is not THAT surprising. At this time I am not giving him any benefit of a doubt. He doesn't deserve it.

Now I can see some people having issues and it being diag. as PTSD even though they never leave a base. We have plenty of guys in my company that get flat fucking hammered by indirect fire every day. I have left he wire hundreds of times in 7 years, but not in a combat role obviously. I have had my shit rattled probably 100+ times by incoming. Enough times to have my sleep affected by it. Used to wake up to explosions that were not there thinking it was IDF coming in only to find it was in my dreams. A couple weeks on Ambien and they went away. But thunder still twists my stomach up. I have been hit by an IED and seemed to handle it mentally okay for a few days/weeks until it started showing up in my dreams too. I have seen way more than I would ever want of fucked up guys. Had an VBIED hit a soft skin Toyota truck carrying 2 troops 100m outside the ECP not even 5 minutes after I must have just passed the same point on the road. As I was dropping my gear in the office and going back out to secure my truck one of the wounded from the blast was being carried in the back of a pickup truck. I remember seeing how burnt he was and his eyeball hanging out of his socket. That fucked me up pretty badly; knowing that I just passed that same VBIED. That messed me up way more than getting hit myself. Last year dealing with the VBIED that hit and killed 7 of our employees also messed me up more than I would have thought it would have. So “PTSD” can manifest itself into someone in different ways.

Even with that said, I refuse to let his "PTSD" be a reason for what appears to be a premeditated attempt to notoriety through the murder of two men trying to help him.

I gotz a nice desk job now. But believe me I hit the deck when the CRAM goes off though.

Definitely. I've seen multiple interviews with him where questions are phrased in such a way they're nearly impossible to answer without making yourself look bad.
