The plus side to being hired on, if they decide to cut back there's a bit of a net there if you need it. If you're a contractor you're SOL.

          Gotcha..

I know there are still a few companies out there that have really low or no employee participation for the employee only medical, which is cool, but I have had to maintain family coverage since 1996.

I know my employee only option at my current job is VERY reasonable, but teacher medical benefits, at least in the districts for which Leah has worked, are absolute crap and incredibly expensive.

That is what had me leaning more towards option number 1 especially with a new little one coming soon, ill just have to get used to living off what im making and stop living how I am now....its gonna suck till I get used to it

Yeah, my lady's insurance isn't bad its just expensive for what she is making, so any little help with insurance will help us out

well thats the thing, this is not the career field I would like to be in, I would like to be a cop, that is what I really wanna do, but if that didn't pan out i would not mind working for option number 1. They know that I want to be a cop and are aware that i could be gone in 2,3,6 months and are ok with that

well i told them today i would take the job with the company, i asked a little more about the 401k and they told me they match it 100%, they said they give me 3% just for the hell of it and then for every 3% i put in they give me an additional 1% so if i put in 7% i would be getting 12%. i dont know anything about 401k's but it sounded good to me, can someone explain to me if this is a good 401k

When I left my old BS job I took a dollar an hour pay cut, plus driving 3x as far as I was before, but it came with PTO, sick time, and health insurance for me that saved us $400 a month to take me off my wife's insurance. then we got a $5k/yr raise that put me over my old salary.

That's a good deal on the 401k. Max it out up to their 100% limit. They are offering you free money and you're an idiot if you don't take advantage of it.
