Gas isn't cheap and is only getting more expensive. $3 is the minimum to keep me from being a disgruntled employee...just saying.

When I have cash I always leave the tip cash (and the meal on the card), but I always write CASH on the tip line just in case the bus boy or someone takes it!

In these circumstances, They've typically done something above and beyond, like comped my meal because it was unbelievably wrong and brought me a new one. In those situations, I like to tip generously based on what the original total would be, and leave them the difference between what I was charged and what was comped in cash.
