The thing to have at Central Grocery is a muffuletta, not a Po-Boy. I have to try the pommes soufflé every time I go somewhere new down there. That and a good bernaise. If someone can make pommes soufflé and a good bernaise, I will be in their restaurant. Believe that.

I go for the food and drinks, place called the Funky Pirate has splashes their long islands with coke and sour, not the other way around. I cannot stand sweet drinks. Also has drinks the girlies like that are strong.
Cafe du Monde is a must, been to Central Market and of course going back, and think we will hit up Olivers this time. I have a been to a ton of places there but forget the names of most. Almost every place there has great food.
We are going during Mardi Gras so I guess I will be going for the boobies this time too.

Another tip, stay away from the trendy touristy places, the overly cheesy ones. Go for the places that look like they need to be shut down by the health dept.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I'm going to a conference in about a month, and a good friend gave me the following instructions:
Lunch at Mother's on Poydras. Delicious po-boys.
Do Camellia Grill for breakfast. If you have a morning to spend in the French Quarter, have breakfast at The Coffee Pot (be sure to order calas either with or for breakfast), and lunch next door at The Gumbo Shop (duh, gumbo). Both are next door to Pat O's, so you can't miss them.
The Bon Ton Cafe is yummy - that's in the CBD on Magazine. And the Palace Cafe is on Canal Street, and that's the "express" version of Commander's Palace, my favorite restaurant in the world.
My company dinner reservations are:
Sunday: Galatoires
Monday: Clancy's
Tuesday: Mr B's Bistro
Wednesday: Brigsten's
Thursday: Arnaud's

Can't say enough good things about Mother's but I've never ate breakfast there, I'll have to try that next time. Cafe du Monde I just don't get; long lines, bad service, and it's just powdered doughnuts (Beignets)? Don't know what all the fuss was about.
