While we are on this subject, I found a list of cars' 1/8th and qtr mile times ( appears that most come from mag reviews, YMMV)
Zero to 60 & 1/4 Miles Times PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU CONTINUE. This is a collection of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times that have been accumulated from many different sources over the years. This list was compiled and tabulated

A few that stick out: Hemi Roadrunner- 13.5 and a '70 model Chevelle LS6-13.8.

The ZL1 they show ran 11.68

The Zl1 was an 11 second car in bone stock trim, 10.80 cars with slicks.

I am about ready to pull the 455 out of my TA and get a new mill in there. I am not into the single digit gas mileage and need for 93 octane out here in east jesus.

I had a rude awakening when I raced a 2013 in the 69. Fuckers run! This was bone stock. Yep, it is safe to say the old cars don't have shit on the new ones now days. Only way I would race one is from a dig and 1/8th mile only. Quarter mile they would pass me no problem.

Throw mods into the equation, I would lose all the way around.

All those times where orginally done on bias ply tires which have about much traction as radials on ice. But hell the F.A.S.T. guys have been running 10's 11's on f70-14 and G70s for some time now. I even saw where some one broke into the 9s @130+ on bias plys and factory manifolds.

You keep bringing up the F.A.S.T. guys but there is almost nothing stock or OEM on those cars. They have 600+ CI aluminum block engines in some of them.

Ever see how many G's a '67/'68 GT500 will pull on a skid-pad? How about braking? Trust me...they were/are horrendous. Many of those SS396's and 454's couldn't break into the 14's.
My buddies factory stock 78 TA with a 6.5 (400)/auto ran a 15.02 @92 or 96 mph. It was fast back then. Now, not so much.

One of or family friends has been into mustangs, and hot riding them for years. He forged his fathers name in 65 to by his first one new. I asked him about this whole mess and he said that most of the"fast" cars back then weren't shit until you put a set of headers with dual exhaust, usually a better intake, carb and Cam in. Once that stuff was done, they weren't slow at all, especially the big block cars. The new cars of today are much better all around.

He has a bunch of classic mustangs (I think only one might actually run) but he showed me a set of heads that he worked up back in the later 60'a or early 70'a that had been ported, had some big ass Chevy valves stuffed in that look way to big for the hole. They didn't have a jegs they could open and buy a set of aluminm heads, so the real hot rods had grassroots mods in effort to try and get more power.

In the unmodified class they run all OEM parts. I was mainly talking about them. Since they take the time to tune these engines well and run good times. Even the modified class you still have to run OEM heads, blocks, manifolds, carbs. So saying there is almost nothing stock on those cars is false. Yes in the modified class if you are building a zl1 you are allowed to use alum. blocks.
