      The Mexico thing is such a shame. We had a real blast when we went to Playa and it sucks knowing we'll probably never go back.

                    Headed there early March for Spring Break. My final spring break, as well as the first one that I've actually done something. Plan is to fly into MC, stay in a hostel and bus to Acapulco or Puerto Escondido (most likely). Leaving the planning to a minimum for max flexibility.

                        I am going to Merida and progreso to a house we have just got back in november of last year and felt safe the whole time but when whe fly into mexico city i dont leave the airport when waiting on my connecting flight.

                                Very true. Cabs are indeed suspect and be aware that the cops will jack you as well. Stay out of the surrounding "suburbs" at nite. Whats 911?! LOL

                                Oh, and whatever you do DONT flash anything of value. Even a cheap watch, old nikes, or a "smart" phone will get you got! Also if your not used to carrying your wallet in your front pocket, get used to doing so. Professional pickpocketers are vicious down there. Especially on busses. You have better odds of feeling if your wallet is getting lifted from there. The kids are some of the slickest thieves...
