I've hit and ran over pretty much everything you can imagine. Some of the most memorable things are as follows.


One time we where rolling along and someone had put an old school TV on some cider blocks on the track. It was probably a 36" Tv. We nail it dead center. Now I'm not sure if the folks that put it there measured everything exactly or they just got lucky, but when we got to the next terminal and handed off the train the relief crew couldn't beleive. That TV was stuck in the knuckle of the engine lol.


Anytime you hit a cow is pretty cool. If you hit them broad side and fast enough it will cover the entire front of the engine with blood and 30lb chunks of meat lol. I hate hitting horses or dogs. Just because you know that is someones pet and some poor little boy or girl will be looking for that dog and always wondering what happen to it.

I've ran over several Fridges and one time somone had stacked a washer on top of a dryer and left it on the tracks. I thought that was a pretty good idea.

The sickest thing I've ever wittnessed was one time we where rolling along at about 50mph and we could see two girls up ahead pushing a stroller. One was holding a baby and as we got closer that bitch with the stroller facing away from us put the baby in the stroller and both girls ran off. We plugged the train and rain it over. Of course we notify the dispatcher who send out EMS/Fire and police. After about 10 minutes they found the stroller and inside it was a damn doll.


Another good one. Anytime an animal will get between the rails and they see a train coming they will turn and run down the middle of the track away from the train. I guess because there is rail on both sides of them they get tunnel vision and don't think to just turn and run off the tracks. This goes for all animals. Their only hope is if a crossing is close and if they can make it to the crossing they will normally then get out of the way. Well one time we come around a curve at track speed and there was an entire herd of goats. At least 150 of them standing in the track. They all take off running. What was funny even the ones that weren't between the rails ran off following the first goat that took off and he was between the rails. So off they went 150 goats all single file. We ran down each and everyone one of them from behind. What made this worst was for several weeks this was then a buzzard buffet. So you'd go thru there and then hit a bunch of buzzards also lol.


I've hit cars and people, but out of respect I don't talk about those.

This reminds me of some road trip I took somewhere in the desert and seeing hundreds of flattened gophers. I guess a gopher would get run over, others would come out to feast on it and get hit too.

They will hire you right off the street to be a conductor. Plenty of older guys do it. The oldest new hire I've come across was 58. Plus you never start off at the bottom. A new guy gets paid the same as a guy that has been there 30 years.

I won't ask you to go into further detail than this but, did the people that you hit (outside of the cars) die? Friend's aunt who had dementia alzhiemers you name it, walked in front of one and was killed.
