Not really, I owned one and it got around 23MPG. Decent, just not near as good as the later EFI cars. The carbs on those years are touchy and there is roughly 200 miles of vacuum lines.

I have some stuff right now. Mainly an 05 Pontiac Grand Am with the 2.2L eco tech. Epa rating of 24/32 and it's plenty reliable.
