  • Skinny/Fat tires

When i got my first mustang in 2001, it seemed every other mustang out there rolled on welds or some kind of skinny front/fat tire in the back.

Nowadays, unless the car is an race car, i dont really see any street cars cruising around on that set up. anyone got any guesses as to why? is it not "cool" anymore? stupid thread?

Its because people enjoy being able to stop, and turn.

I keep them on the coupe, unless it's going to rain. Then it's back to the old stand by 10 holes.

          A 2800lb Fox body with 300rw is a lot different car than a 3600lb S197 with 400rw.

They're fine for looking cool and at the track, but only a kid would daily drive a hot rod with skinnys.

I've got centerlines on the 82. I drove it on them but it's not my daily.

Young and dumb... Fats and skinnies were the shit back in the day, along with foxbody lightshows!

Well they are still cool; however, like others pointed out skinny's do not handle well at all. I run ponies on my coupe and love the way my cars handles. When I run the big/skinny combo I have to be careful how hard I brake and especially how hard I corner. The 3.5 welds are technically not for the street and will bend easily of placed under cornering distress like handing a hard right into a parking lot.

I still contend they look marvelous LoL.

I'll street drive my car with pro stars or champions. It probably won't ever get driven to work or anything though.

x2 Every time someone calls me out at beach it's for a 60 punch. The new 5.0's are the worst ones at it.

Seems that way and look at the TX2k events in H-town. Half of those cars could not race from a dig.

I hate roll racing period. There is no skill at it. When I had the cobra I did it from a dig or nothing at all most of the time. Anyone can roll race

my old 5.0 is pretty much at condition critical at 60mph.

                              god bless.
