      They have been like that for several years now. I know that the safety glass is bad because of the layer of vinyl sandwiched between the two pieces of glass.

        Every car I have owned that was a 2001 or newer has had similar issues. Was the worst in an Elantra I had. Made them replace the windshield three times. The one in my 03 Cobra drove me nuts too but no warranty so I delt with it.
        Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

                  Another reason: they're trying to make car components lighter and lighter, and glass is heavy. It stands to reason that the thinner glass is more difficult to form without deformation than thicker glass is.
