  • Thanks again to 89gt5oh

Couple weeks ago Ryan got me hooked up with a 2011 F250. Well, that sparked the fiance into wanting to trade her Mini Cooper S to a small SUV. We ended back at Bankston for a great deal. Ryan is by far the easiest car guy to deal with. Very laid back and helpful.

Anyways, we got a 2013 Audi Q5 with 2500 miles on it for about $5k less than buying brand new. I will get pics up later. Awesome car and a great deal.

    Thanks Ryan

Good deal. Trying to remember from the other thread - he's the used manager, right?

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Correct. He can get just about anything from bankston's website. The audi came in from Arizona and my truck from Houston. Gives you a lot more search area and availability.

I have done 15 or more car deals and these two were painless compared to the deals with the current and previous advertisers here.

Did one of the advertisers piss you off? It seems like you have gone out of your way to knock them in both of the OMG 89gt5oh threads you've posted.

Nope... Ask Skip, I have sent them multiple people on new trucks after I bought my truck from Ryan. You just dont understand how easy this car deal was. Very fair price, no back and forth, finance guy was great. Previously I and my family have done car deals with advertisers here and while we appreciate there help, there is still a snag here and there. My sister just got a new car from Reid at Grapevine Ford (I sent here there) and the only downside was it took her 6 hours to get into financing. On my F150 the front end of the deal was amazing, the back end not so much. I had to get Skip involved to get a warranty cancelled which isnt even his department. Both of these deals are still good deals and we appreciate the help, but again, snags.

I will still use Grapevine Ford (previously used NTN and Rob multiple times and sent many people his way) but the easiness of the deals with Ryan blows me away. They truly bent over backwards with the nonsense I got from Penfed and the post office. They were ok with waiting 13 days to get my payment squared away and all I got was 2 text messages asking if the check had come from Penfed yet.

Its called a choice, playa. I've done business with Skip, but hes only one guy and is very busy. The Finance dept. has to up sell warranties, VIN glass etching, lifetime wax, unlimited oil changes, its part of their "schtick". Its not just Grapevine Ford, most other stealerships are worse, but they have to try and make as much money as they can. Most places will but if you go in saying, hey, this is all im paying I don't need anything else they usually don't into their dog an pony show...

I understand all of that, and don't have a problem with it. It just seemed like he took the extra step in both of the "thank you" threads to point out that the service was much better than what he's gotten from our advertisers.
I was just curious if something had happened.

this is very true. I was in looking at a new F250 and caught Reid at a bad time. I was handed off to another guy who I thought would give me the same straight shot, no games approach. I was wrong and ended up just asking for my F150 keys and leaving. The time I stopped by the dealership, Skip was not in. I will still buy from Skip (followed him from my first Mustang purchase in '02) but will only deal with him or his father.

I also believe the finance side was much better at Bankston. Much faster and easier with no push. Their computer signing screen on teh desk can get you in and out in 15 minutes.

My experiences with Skip have been positive and I have sent my friends and family there. This last time I was rubbed the wrong way on the sales side, and previously on the finance side. I still recommend the guy because he has some cut throat pricing on new vehicles. I also hope that he will treat the people I send that way with the same courtesy and respect. My last run in was not with Skip or Reid and that is where my single problem was which was resolved easily by me leaving and trying to handle things with Skip directly.

I have done a lot of car deals and helped lots of others. Im just trying to tell you guys that really, these two transactions were by far the easiest I have ever done (Chris, Pro88LX also gets a mention here as I would rate his deals above our advertisers as well). If these two vehicles were here in the area, Im confident the entire deal could have been done in an hour. Very fair trade ins were initiated over PM's and text. Ryans trade values were $1500 more than Grapevine Ford could give. The manager at Ford looked at me like an idiot because I wouldnt take $1500 less for my trade than another dealership could offer. His trade in on the Mini Cooper was right on with blue book value (not blackbook) which was more than we were expecting.

Here was my "Thank you" thread to Skip on my F150 purchase. http://www.dfwmustangs.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=13594 With all car deals, I expect some delay and some "issues" though would still rate them great. These are expected as Im trying to get out as cheap as possible and the dealership needs to make money. The less snags the better the experience. What Im trying to say with these Bankston deals, there were no snags. If you look at that thread, you see Skip asking if Louis got me taken care of...this was my run in with finance that Skip/Reid handled for me and Skip verifying that it was taken care of. Still very happy with that purchase.

Financing rubbed me the wrong way big time as well. Skip and josh are awesome, but the financing process was not a good one.

I think this side needs to be shared Because all you hear are the overly positive threads, but had I known the financing would go as it did...I would have approached it differently or at least expected less from the get go.

I had no issues with finance on any of our purchases at GV Ford. I just tell Josh to let them know before I walk in there that I do not want anything extra, just the deal for the car we already discussed, no warranty, no car washes, etc. First thing I tell the finance guy is the same thing too, and never once do I have to listen to the pitch for those items.
