      Doesn't surprise me that it's a GE product. They have been trying to ditch the appliance business since I worked for them, and that ended in January of 2009.

          Doesn't seem like it should take 5 days for them to make that decision.

          I was fridge shopping and had no interest in Samsung or LG but the more I read, those two kept popping to the top of reliability and customer satisfaction reviews. I eventually ended up with a 31 cu ft LG and have been very happy with it, although I've only had it for 6 weeks so that's probably not worth a whole lot....

              Same here - I have two LCD TVs - one LG and one Samsung and have zero issues or complaints with them. They just aren't your traditional appliance brands, so I was a little leery at first. I went to Best Buy and 2/3 of what they had on the floor was either Samsung or LG...

                I would be raising hell. How long did you purchase the warranty for? How long was the one on the fridge? Months without one would tip me over. I would have been in their ass and returning it after the first fix didn't work. Time to call corporate IMHO.

                  Give me the model number of your fridge I will see if they have the part in stock. 30 days is way to long to get parts. Should be 1-2 day fix.

                    TECHNICIAN PROBLEM ! I ran a large Sears Central Service for 25 years. I NEVER saw an evaporator replaced. They are repairable. Even if you punch a hole in one it can be repaired with refrigeration grade epoxy if you do it right. I have a small dorm type refrigerator that I got out of the trash . A customer punched a hole in the evaporator while defrosting. He bought a new one. I had one of my techs repair it in about 1985. It has run every day since then and keeps my Lone Star just right. GET ANOTHER TECHNICIAN.

                        I have 2 samsungs french door, 2 samsung wash/dryer, and freezer. Since 2008~ No issues, only the dryer belt went out which I fixed myself for 30$.

                          Earlier this week I ordered a Work Sharp 3000 from HomeDepot.com (order number W118122508) after finding out that that the tool was on sale. The website indicated that this tool was “backordered online” but the deal was so good that I placed my order anyways.


                          I found out about this deal from the WoodNet forums (see link below) where a number of woodworkers had ordered this tool.




                          Unfortunately my order, and the order of many people on this message board, was cancelled. I contacted customer service through chat and spoke with Pam. She stated that the product was out of stock. I told her of the discrepancy on the website and she said she would pass along that information.

                          I have attached screenshots of my order, the pricing page, and my chat with your customer service rep, Pam.

                          I’ve been a Home Depot customer for a long time and this incident will not change that. I just wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes of getting a better resolution for myself and the members of the WoodNet forums that also ordered this product.

                          The end result was a free Worksharp 3000 that was OVERNIGHTED to me. HD also went onto the Woodnet forums and offered to make good on the original deal. There were about 200 people that got the original discount that HD offered on their website. All that because I took it upon myself to just write a very nicely worded email.

                          edit: I forgot, this even got a mention on the Consumerist.com website:

                            I just got off the phone with the home depot warranty. They offered to replace the fridge with an other GE fridge or send me a check for the amount of $1077.00. I went with the check because I do not want another GE product. They said the check will be made out in my name & that I can cash it & use it for whatever I want. I hope it's a check & not a gift card from home depot. Looks like I will be fridge shopping this weekend.

                            According to some of the post on this thread it best to stick with a Samsung or LG fridge correct?

                                There are several problems with your statement.

                                1.) Technicians now are not nearly as qualified now as they used to be. I don't know how so many of them still have jobs.

                                2.) When under a warranty, you are usually limited to who can service it, because you have to use one of their authorized service centers.

                                3.) I'd tell you, or any other repairman to get fucked on using epoxy to fix an evap. I bought new, I paid for new, warranty replaces as new. Period. The ONLY time I'd allow a half ass repair like that, is if it was something ridiculously old, and parts were no longer available.
