  • Home Depot Warranty

I purchased a refrigerator back in mid of 2009 from Home Depot. Also purchased a extended warranty that I have had to use a few times. The last incident happened back in October. It stopped cooling so they sent a service tech out & determined that the evaporator was bad. Took them exactly 30 days to replace it. Only lasted about 1.5 months & now it is not cooling again. They sent over a tech again today & he couldn't find the leak. He wants to replace the evaporator again which will probably take an other 30 days. Do you fellas think it is possible for me to get Home Depot to just replace the entire refrigerator or am I shit out of luck???

I don't really know how they handle things, but on the commercial side, three issues related to the same root problem will have me shitting furiously down someone's neck until I get a replacement for my customers. It's not a written rule, per se, but 3 service tickets on the same issue makes me start throwing the words lemon, and lawsuit around.

Did they leave you without a fridge for 30 days?! How did they handle it? I purchased the extended warranty for our electric range and hope it is worth it.

BTW, what fridge did you have trouble with? Seems nothing lasts like it used to.

Yeah, no damn fridge for 30 days. I called last time & complained about being without a fridge for so long but they didn't care. All they would say is that they would contact the service tech to try & get it fixed asap. It's a GE product.

I told the tech not to order the parts yet because I was going to call Home Depot first & complain. He said that is fine but in the mean time he would charge up the fridge & it should last for an other month. He said if they won't replace the entire fridge to call him back & he will order the parts to replace the evaporator.

GE, why am I not surprised? They have produced some dog refrigerators.

Get the CEOs email and write him a nice/polite email in detail about your bad experience.

Weird, most warranties I've had on appliances will provide a loaner if youre without one for an extended period of time. I'd be raising hell.

There's a reason GE spun off its appliance division.

The defrosting heater element has failed twice on mine. The latest one at least looks like an improvement on the previous two, and it's been installed now for a year or two.

Well the tech just left. It turns out that the condenser is bad. He said he will submit the order in & will have to wait for the approval of the warranty company. He also said it could take up to a month again before I have a working fridge. Once they approve the repair they will order the parts then they will have to come back out & install them. I called the warranty company already but they said they can't do anything until they receive the order from the tech.

I have to leave to work but I'll be calling again tomorrow raising hell. If that doesn't help then I'm making a trip to the store to raise hell. No way in hell that I'm going to go that long again without a fridge. I was planning a surprise party for my mom next weekend here at my house but without a fridge that isn't going to happen.

Got a phone call today from the service tech that Home Depot does not want to sink any more money into this fridge. He said that they (Home Depot) will be contacting me with in 5 days to let me know how they plan to resolve this issue. You guys have any pointers here?
