haha yeah, I'm just saying people do not know what anything costs anymore. Therefore, you don't know if you're overpaying. And frankly no one cares if they are overpaying - that's the whole problem.

Thats because you have no choice. If you want fixed, you pay what they say you will pay.

Sure you do, you have a choice, it's a free market. They charge too much, you go elsewhere. <- this isn't happening right now, hence the reason for the inflated costs of everything. Most of the time they will actually bring the price down if you're paying cash.

My buddy and his wife just had a kid, no insurance and he said the bills were over $20k. No complications either, just the baby sliding out of her vaginal cavity. That seemed like alot when you can have a baby at home for free.

Its funny now to me too, but he didn't think so. When I told him that, he had a look on his face. I asked what was wrong and he said we shouldn't be discussing his wifes pussy?!

At the time I was being serious, I wanted to know why having a baby cost so damn much!

I call benefits and get her added the following Monday. Fast forward a month plus and we find out that the never added her but instead canceled my insurance. Say wha? Canceled it back to two days before Hailey was born. Well that is funny since I pay premiums every week. Now we are strugling with the claims etc ourselves.

The first indication of a problem was when CVS told my wife my 30 day scripts which usually cost me $34 were gonna cost $340 cause our insurance was "Inactive". Called Cigna "no it shows active". Call CVS "no it shows INactive". Come to find out Cigna has two screens, one for the CS Reps and customers and one for the verifications. They updated the first but not the later.

Slowly we are getting checks back though.

I haven't even checked our credit in a few months. It was pertnear perfect or above an 800 at the least. I am sure we took hits to our scores becuase of all the medical bills we are getting.
To the OP: That sucks man but at least now you get to use your legal coverage you are paying for...

As for Cigna, my wife works for a local Chiropractor office and does all the billing/scheduling, etc. and says that they won't even accept patients with Cigna coverage because they will technically be "covered" when they come in for treatment but Cigna won't ever pay the claims. They finally got to the point after numerous clients that had the same issue they just don't want to deal with Cigna so they offer the patient a cash rate if they want continued care. They are all full blown retards... I'm sure Obamacare will fix ALL the problems though.

My health insurance provider is in the CIGNA network and I haven't been told of any issues with their claims payment processes by the primary physician I go to, and that is after 10 years or so with the same insurer.

                        BCBS was another matter however.....

I filed the disputes this morning, and of course have yet to hear back from the collection agency. However I actually got to a real person with Radiology Associates billing dept just a short while ago...I was cool and professional about it, didn't raise my voice or fly off the handle, I went through the whole thing, told her all about the conversation I had with the BCBS rep last night, they confirmed that it had been paid, and also had very detailed notes including a name and phone for the person they spoke with when the payment was made, etc. However the young lady was immediately on the defensive, said her records show it delinquent, that they never had insurance information for me, and that there are no notes anywhere in their records of anyone speaking with my insurance company or anyone else.

I sat and quietly listened to her BS...then calmly said...are you finished? I told her, I really don't care what your notes say or don't say....if the way you do business alone is any indication, I'd expect nothing less than total shit notes like you are describing. What I'm telling you is that MY insurance company does have notes....very detailed notes....notes that confirm the timing when this was covered....the same notes that have already been faxed to my legal council to discuss the compensation I'll be seeking from your organization as a result of this fiasco.....your mistake, not mine! Therefore I suggest you quit trying to pick an argument with me, and instead get on the horn with my insurance company to confirm what we already know, so that you people can begin cleaning up this mess....so that we can get on to the next business, which will be discussing how your organization will be compensating me for a very well documented error on your behalf.

She just sat there for a couple seconds, and then said I'm sorry sir....can I put you on hold for a couple mins? I said certainly...not a problem. She put me on hold for about 3-4 minutes, then came back...was VERY apologetic, asked for the contact information for the insurance rep and then said, okay I'm going to need to have my supervisor call you back shortly...is that okay?

After my dad died, my mother got a bill from some asshat doctor who had never even seen my dad. Date the medical exam was provided? Three months after we buried him.

                            Oh hell no you didn't!

Miraculously I got a bill two months after surgery that he was not on plan. His fucking rate was almost twice as much as the actual doctor. I sweet talked a lady at Aetna and advised her of what was going on and she sent it to claims. I was shocked they paid it. Screwed up though I almost never go to the doctor for anything. Maybe five times in the last ten years other then things required or caused by work.
Exact same thing and outcome happened to me whenever I had surgery on my elbow.
If definately took some sweet talking though!

My company is actually self-insured...they simply use BCBS to process all the claims. We've been with them about 6-7 years now, and I've never had any issues with things not being covered, but our company does keep them on a pretty tight leash with this crap....and I suppose BCBS maybe doesn't care as much since they are spending someone else's money.

Before we were with BCBS they used Aetna, and they were awful! Similar to described above, there were a lot of healthcare providers that would literally turn people away if they had Aetna. However that only lasted a couple years before they got the boot.
