    Anyone with SmithThompson? I am having them come out on Friday and hook me up, going with wireless monitoring.

    Never had monitored security before....any suggestions on additional things to go with or ask about?

      We've had them for the past 4-5 years, no complaints here.

        I've had customer that had smith and thompson and switched to me because of the poor customer service and not responding to the alarm going off. You get what you paid for.

          Excellent customer service here and they have always responded within <30 seconds of an alarm going off here. I guess we do get what we pay for, but what do I know about it since I'm only a customer and all, LOL.

              Does not sound like them AND is it really worth $40/mo to monitor while they kick you in the dick with a three year contract? F that.

                  Get a dog! Much more effective then an alarm. An alarm is the lowest priority call for PD.

                  A few years ago I was borrowing my father in laws truck while he was out of town. I knew where the extra key was hidden in the house, so used the garage door keypad to go in a get it. I opened the door and the alarm starts beeping. It was set since out of town. I do not know the code.
                  I get the key and leave with his truck. Pick supplies up at Home Depot and take to my house.
                  I'm back at his house returning the truck 45 minutes later when the PD show up for the alarm.


                  An unmonitored alarm still makes a lot of noise and is just as effective at scaring them away.

                    What is a good Home Security device for a second home. Say something that can be hidden by also get a good picture of the any theifs who decide to break in?

                        I dont want the item to be something that can be taken (IE if I have a computer it would be something the thiefs would take.

                        I wonder what the Trail Camara's go for? I want a small camara that only I know about that is hidden & that can get a good picture at night without giving away its taking a picture, But can still get a good enough picture to identify the theif

                          Someone I know in the security business put it this way: a burglar will take specific things from your home, most of which can be replaced. A fire will take everything you own, potentially your loved ones included. Put a security system in for fire as a first priority and theft deterrent secondary.

                              This is true. When we would accidentally set ours off, I was getting called within 30 seconds. And this was using their wireless signal.
