Police: Man sells dealership vehicle for drugs

Police have arrested a man who they believe stole a new car from a North Austin dealership while he was supposed to be test driving it and sold it for drugs, according to an arrest affidavit.

Carlos Sergio Valdes, 50, was to test drive a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe in the Henna Chevrolet dealership parking lot Saturday when he drove off without permission, according to the affidavit.

After having it for almost two hours, Valdes then called police to report that his vehicle was stolen, the affidavit said.

He told police that he had became lost and ended up two miles away from the dealership on Sam Rayburn Drive, according to the affidavit.

Later, police pulled over a woman who was in the Tahoe and said Valdes sold her the vehicle for two crack rocks, the affidavit said.

Police say the value of the car is $40,075.

Valdes, who has been charged with theft, was in Travis County jail on an $80,000 bail

My BIL tried out selling cars for a couple weeks, and was doing well until a guy set up a test drive, pulled down the street, stopped, pulled out a gun and told him to hop out. The police had the robber in cuffs within a half hour.

Helped run a tote the note lot with my college roommates. Had a Cadillac catera never return from a husband/wife test drive. Turned up in someone's backyard about 10 miles from the lot 3-4 months later. 9k more miles, beat to shit, filled with ashes, and a meth lab in the trunk.

It has to be activated and even then it is a thirty minute process or more to track one down. It also will not shut it down until they cut it off.

I had to track a 2012 Camaro RS one night. Lady left hers running because her soon to be ex was sitting in it on the phone and it was cold out. After being in the store a few minutes she looked up and he was at the Lotto machine. Gone like a freight train.

We called OnStar after going to her house and getting the Vin off the insurance card. They said nope, homeowner had to call it in first. Then she called it in which took a little bit. After all that they had to call us and verify the information was correct, and the service number. They then told us where it was but they couldn't shut it down because of her package level until it stopped.

Funny thing is, the guy had been rolling around south Dallas, and picked up a ole girl of the night. Well the second we alerted DPD to what was going on they shut it down. I think four of them knew something was up and were kind of trailing it around. It was a white one with orange stripes so it kind of stood out.

They had it shut down and done in half an hour. It was a brand new car, no "level of service" was needed, plus they had all the info (including a copy of the guys DL) at ready, so im sure it wasnt near the delay.
