In the past your right. I don't think that either of the two parties have been so far from center in the past. IMO it leave a nice big opening in the middle were most people are.

That's what everyone said every time it has been tried. The way our government and electoral college works you can't just start a party and hope to have primaries. The only way it realistically works is if a candidate who doesn't get the nomination for their party breaks off and forms their own party (like Ron Paul was threatening). And then you split that party's votes and they lose. It isn't rocket science. That's why no one does it. It's far easier to clean house. I know it sounds great but it isn't realistic.

I'd rather watch paint dry than read his idiotic ramblings that have no basis in reality.

I've never put any one on ignore and you certainly are not even close to being special enough to receive the honor.

The amount of trouble you have with simple concepts is incredible.

The right person with the right message could do it. There are alot of people fed up with the status quo. If it wasn't possible there would never be independent candidates. Likely no but it is possible.

It isn't possible, that's why no independent candidate as EVER won in the history of this country. I know it sounds great, but it doesn't work. There are other parties - libertarian, green party, etc.. none of them get any more than 1-5% of the vote, completely irrelevant.

I think this thread has drained the life out of me.

So it's ok just to knuckle under and be satisfied with the status quo? Both parties are alienating voters, the Repubs more than Dems but if that trend continues there will be a real opening for another party. Maybe it's a pipedream but I can hope.
